Isle Surfboard Shaping and Design
Surfboard production has come a long way from the early days when every surfboard was cut from a foam blank entirely by hand tools.Hand shaping still plays an important role in the fine tuning of surfboards but CAD computerized shaping and the CNC shaping machine are two modern tools that are redefining the way surfboards are shaped and produced and helping to elevate surfboard design and production to new levels in the modern era.
We design every ISLE surfboard model in the Shape3D computerized shaping program with an experienced shaper/designer. This invaluable tool allows us to digitally make design adjustments to rockers, rails, dimensions, foils, concaves, and vee all within the Shape3D design program.

These designs are then transferred from the computer to the CNC surfboard shaping machine and 95% of the board shape is finished by the machine. The machine cut blank is then passed of to a highly trained shaper and hand finished to our exact specification. We let the machine do the difficult work and then tune in every model by hand. This helps us focus on product consistency, quality and shape. With this type of shaping we can count on a consistent machine cut blank and quality finished shape every time.
