Description

The 11’4 Armadillo Touring Model uses the latest in Thermoformed Composite Technology to produce a supreme level of durability over traditional more fragile epoxy paddle boards. The end result is a lightweight board that can withstand intense daily abuse something not possible without this special Patented Technology. All this durability with the flex, performance and weight of a traditional Epoxy board.

Smack it! Drop it! Bang it! Bash it! It Just Won’t Damage!

About the Armadillos Durable Composite Skin

The technology combines the expertise of a USA materials engineering company, a master shaper, and the Isle direct sales model to bring you a bullet proof, practical light weight paddle board at an affordable price.

The Thermal Composite Technology employed in this board uses a combination of polypropylene (plastic) & fiberglass cloth in super heated steel molds tooled to exact specification from the master shape right here in Southern California. Not only is the process Green meaning less enviormental impact but also supports our local economy and brings much needed USA manufacturing back from overseas.

The special patented process replaces traditional epoxy resin with polypropylene and fuses this with fiberglass cloth under high tempatures. The final result is a seamless, lightweight, flexible and highly durable board offering unmatched levels of strength. The unique composite construction shields the board from typical wear and tear that would damage, chip, crack, and dent a traditional epoxy fiberglass board.

Thermal Composite Construction Vrs. Epoxy Resin

Everyone loves the feel and light weight of a traditional epoxy paddle board. The vast majority of paddle boards are constructed with epoxy resins and fiberglass cloth.

For Epoxy Resin boards the glassing techniques and materials can vary from high density sandwich bamboo and PVC to exotic cloths such as carbon fiber and Kevlar for lighter weight. At the end of the day the chemical structure of the epoxy resin used in glassing combined with fiberglass cloth can eventually crack when subjected to pressure. And with paddle boards weighing in at 20-35 lbs a slight drop on the tail or rail or a run in with the rocks or tailgate can cause cracking or more severe damage.

Not the case with Thermal Composites such as polypropylene (plastic) which maintain supreme strength and flexibility under intense pressure. The highly technical process to produce this combination requires polypropylene to infuse with fiberglass cloth. The resulting combination can withstand any impact and add years to the life of your paddle board even after intense abuse. The outer skin of your paddle board is now like the Armadillo and Safe from impact no matter how intense.

The Ultimate Paddle Board Rental for Fleets

If you operate a Paddle Board school or rental business the Armadillo could be the answer you are looking for. No more needing to replace boards every season and no more complaints from staff trying to lug those heavy Roto molded (Roto Molded are heavy plastic boards common with Kayak Construction,Highly Durable But VERY VERY Heavy) or waterlogged damaged epoxy boards back and forth.

If the boards are so durable and affordable why not produce all our models this way?

We love the technology and its durability, flex and light weight is unrivaled for sup construction. However the only limitation is the master shape must be produced in a one off mold. These molds are expensive and take time to design and produce to exact specification from a master shape. So each time you want to vary the shape you need a new mold making it very costly to offer a variety of shapes. This is why for our first shape we have decided on the 11’4 Flat water shape to provide a great all around design for everyday paddlers.

The Isle Surf & SUP Difference

The Isle Difference

Since 2004 we have been an industry leader in bringing the largest selection of high quality surfboards and stand up boards to market at the most competitive prices possible.

We have been able to do so because of a few simple reasons:

  1. We are a company built from the ground up by surfers and stand up paddlers who have been immersed in the culture our entire lives. As a result we are able to do all board design, R&D and testing in house, in one of the most diverse testing grounds in the world, San Diego, CA. This also means lower prices for you as we don’t have to pay for someone else to do all of this for us.
  2. We focus on manufacturing our boards and selling them directly to our customers which allows us to mark up our boards very little and pass the savings onto you, our customers.
  3. We have partnered with some of the best manufactures in the world to make our products and have chosen the best construction methods and materials in order to create the highest quality boards at the best price possible.
  4. We choose to hand shape our boards and not build our boards in molds as molds are not only expensive but force companies to do large quantities of very limited selection. For this reason we hand shape all our boards which allows us to constantly be improving our shapes and continue to offer a wide range of shapes and sizes to better suit all conditions and riders.

In the end this all translate to you getting a lighter, stronger and more buoyant board with the same look, feel and performance of a traditional polyester fiberglass board for a price that’s hard to believe.
