Why Choose a Surftech?
Surftech boards are made of epoxy and are more buoyant than traditional fiberglass boards. With this extra buoyancy you can often ride a shorter Surftech board. Surftech surfboards are more durable than most on the market. While there is no such thing as a truly indestructible surfboard, Surftech boards are the strongest surfboards built with great memory. This means that a Surftech can spring back to shape when flexed. These boards can typically survive 3-4 times more wear-n-tear than a typically board. Surftech uses a Fussed Cell Expanded Polystyrene EPS core, which cells are so closely compacted making Surftech boards hydro-phobic.
What is Surftech Tuflite?
Surftech Tuflite was developed in order to produce the strongest, lightest and most responsive surfboards. Surftech Tuflite boards are the number one selling series of surfboards in the world. These Surftech boards are made using an EPS foam core and epoxy resin. Surftech’s epoxy sandwich construction uses specific layers of materials. Layered on top of the EPS core first you have a layer of Epoxy Fiberglass. Next Surftech uses a layer of high density foam topped with an exterior fiberglass lamination. Surftech’s final step in creating these boards is a hand finished hot coat. The outcome? A lightweight unbelievably durable Surftech Surfboard.
Surftech TL2
Taking one step up on the Surftech Tuflite board, Surftech TL2 Surfboards were made in response to surfer’s wishing to improve on their surfing abilities. Surftech TL2 surfboards offer “faster response and greater projection through turns”. These Surftech boards are made with no wooden stringer, offering more flex than a standard epoxy surfboard. Surftech tops TL2 boards with an Acrylite High Density Foam and a clear epoxy finish, adding strength to the surfboard. These boards are not strong as Surftech’s original tuflite, but they are a higher performance board.
Surftech Wood Series
Probably the most beautiful of the Surftech line, the Surftech Wood Series combines attractiveness with strength. These boards are also made with the Surftech sandwich construction. The Surftech wood series layers High Density Foam and Epoxy Fiberglass on an EPS foam core, using a Wood Veener to create the classic wood surfboard.
Can I Repair a Surftech Board?
Some surfers are afraid to “Go Epoxy” because they do not know how to fix the boards if something gets dinged. While there are many Surftech repair centers, you can do home repairs on your Surftech board. Surftech surfboards along with other Epoxy boards are typically just as easy to repair as Fiberglass boards. Surftech offers three different repair kits. These Surftech repair kits are Epoxy Ding Repair Kit, Sun Cure Epoxy Ding Repair and Ding Dough. Also available is Surftech touch up paints.
